In recent years, aerial application aeroplanes have been adapted for the fire-bombing role. Wild fires have become a major problem in Australia and many other parts of the world and have become a core part in the combined effort of the volunteer fire fighting groups in containing these fires.
Godfrey Gardiner always returns to South Australia for the fire season where he plays an active role flying water bombing aeroplanes in highly dangerous situations.
Godfrey regards his years of working as an aerial application pilot in rural areas around the world as a privilege. In that time, he has seen amazing advances in production and farming practises. So much more has been achieved with increasing production with a far more realistic and sensitive approach to soil and environmental management.
